The company that runs the Greenwich Reuse & Recycling Centre in Nathan Way, Thamesmead is encouraging local small to medium businesses to use the Transfer Station to recycle waste materials.
Under EU Regulations all businesses have an obligation to pre-treat their waste, and the easiest way to do this is by separating materials that can be recycled.
The Veolia Greenwich Transfer Station is able to accept pre-sorted & mixed recyclable materials from businesses, such as clean cardboard and paper, wood, green waste, mixed plastics, glass bottles & Jars, metals, hardcore and other building materials.
And the good news for traders is that the gate fee has been altered so that there is no longer a minimum charge of half a tonne of materials, with free tips for some reusable materials and a small charge for non-recyclable materials.
Veolia also sells on site its own range of peat-free composts and soil conditioners called Pro-Grow. Discounts are available for gardening and horticultural contractors who bring in more than a tonne of green waste on each visit.
