SELCHP Community Fund Presentation

Three projects that were successful in applying for funding from the SELCHP Community Fund have been presented with their grants at a ceremony at the SELCHP Energy Recovery Facility in Deptford.

Northbrook Park Community Group, Baring Primary School and Abbey Wood Nursery School & Children’s Centre have been awarded over £10,000 between them for their respective community projects by the SELCHP (South East London Combined Heat & Power) facility jointly owned by Veolia Environmental Services, who also operate the plant, and CNIM.

Northbrook Park Community Group were awarded £3,000 to create a fitness assault course and install Trim Trail fitness equipment and tarmac in their park in Grove Park in the London Borough of Lewisham.  Michelle Ball, on behalf of the Group ,said: “We are so excited about getting this equipment in the park and we would like to thank SELCHP for their support.”

Baring Primary School, also in Grove Park, received a grant of £4,000 to purchase a retractable safety net for the school’s playground.  Headteacher Diane Brewer said: “Thanks so much to SELCHP for this award.  We can now look forward to getting the netting over our playground.  I know the children will be so excited when I share the cheque with them in assembly.”

Abbey Wood Nursery School & Children’s Centre want to develop a vegetable plot and a grassed area on their premises in Abbey Wood and have been funded £3,500 to achieve this.  Carol James, a representative from the School and Centre, said: “Thank you to SELCHP for supporting our new garden development in the Nursery.
We have a shared vision for the outdoor play and are committed to ensuring that young children thrive and develop by having free access to stimulating outdoor environments for learning through play and real experiences.”

Robbie Jameson, General Manager of SELCHP, said: “At SELCHP we are wholeheartedly committed to the communities around us and our Community Fund is an excellent way of giving something back to support these worthy projects.”
