Energy recovery facilities provide a sustainable solution for waste once the options of reduction, reuse and recycling are exhausted
Our Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs) are regulated by the Environment Agency, operate within the strict emissions limits of the Waste Incineration Directive and have been recognised by all the relevant regulatory bodies as a safe, efficient method of treating residual waste.
SELCHP
SELCHP (South Easte London Combined Heat & Power) is an energy recovery facility located in Deptford, Lewisham. The facility takes waste that cannot be recycled and turns it into energy which is sold to the National Grid. SELCHP is capable of handling 420,000 tonnes of waste per annum and produces enough electricity to power approximately 48,000 local homes. To find out more about the process, visit the SELCHP website.
The facility takes waste from the boroughs of Lewisham, Greenwich, Southwark, Westminster and Bromley. SELCHP is a commercial partnership between public and private sectors.
