This Recycle Week, London residents are encouraged to expand their recycling knowledge by taking part in Veolia’s online Wonder Day, where they can learn more about the recycling process, watch myth-busting videos and get top tips on how to recycle right.
Tim Duret, Technology and Organics Director from Veolia said:
“This Recycle Week, we’re taking the opportunity to thank the public for continuing to recycle. 2020 has been the year that the environment has taken centre stage and sustainability is at the forefront of everyone’s minds. Spending more time at home has led to a renewed appreciation of our resources and the key workers delivering recycling services. To build on this momentum, we’re inviting all residents to join us on the road to a green recovery, by attending our online Wonder Day, where they can learn even more about the importance of recycling.”
Peter Maddox, Director, WRAP UK, said:
“Despite everything that’s been thrown at them this year London residents have continued to recycle and do the right thing with their waste. I want to thank them for that, and I also want to recognise the vital role our recycling and waste workers play in protecting the environment. Everyone has pulled together this year and Recycle Week is a chance to say thank you and ask everyone to keep going and help us continue to make the changes that will protect the future of our planet.
“It’s fantastic to see that despite everything that has been thrown at them this year, more people than ever in London are taking responsibility for protecting the environment by choosing to recycle. This is something we can all do, wherever we live – an individual action that, when performed by everyone, adds up to a huge change.
“London’s recycling and waste workers have been real heroes too, providing the best service possible under the most difficult of circumstances. The recognition they received in the form of friendly waves, notes, cards and gifts left out for them is heart-warming proof of how London has cooperated.
“Recycle Week this year is an opportunity to thank everyone in London for continuing to recycle, whatever their circumstances and to celebrate the way we have all pulled together. There has been a positive leap forward in attitudes that we must capitalise on so London can do even better in the coming year!”
