Cleaning the streets and emptying the bins are some of the toughest jobs London has to offer, however Veolia has been recognised by Healthy Workplace Charter for supporting the health and wellbeing of its staff in the capital.
Over 200 companies have received the accreditation and Veolia will act as a case study to share best practice with other organisations.
The ‘commitment’ level accreditation was achieved on the basis of Veolia’s dedicated policies for supporting staff welfare and the benefits package it provides to further assist when needed.
Veolia’s policies address health and safety, equality in the workplace and physical and emotional wellbeing, by offering free health checks, eye care, physiotherapy and mental health support.
Pascal Hauret, Regional Director for Veolia London, said: “Our people work incredibly hard. They are out there in all weathers keeping London clean for communities to enjoy. For many people we are invisible, and unfortunately for some people we are a target for abuse. This is why we take great responsibility for our employees and hold their safety and wellbeing as the highest priority. I’m immensely proud of our accreditation by London Healthy Workplace Charter, as it not only formally recognises our dedication to our staff, but demonstrates their value and importance as members of the company.”
Veolia will build on its accreditation through ongoing review of employee needs and ensuring sufficient support is in place to meet them.
