What is World Environment Day and what does it stand for?
World Environment Day is celebrated on the 5th of June every year, and is the United Nation's principal strategy for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of our environment.
First held in 1974, the movement continues to grow on a global scale. Campaigning for the awareness of environmental issues such as marine pollution, overpopulation, global warming, sustainable consumption and wildlife crime. This years theme, chosen by the host country China, focuses on air pollution and how we can change our everyday lives in order to reduce the amount of pollution we produce.
